bbc story - Would you walk on by?
BBC article here. I have not had the opportunity to help people in such dramatic encounters, but have helped in small situations. It is a lie that people are not scared. "The more obvious possibility, that people are simply too frightened to intervene, is discounted by psychologists". Another case of Experts Talking Rubbish. The truth is, everyone at the scene who has the thought of intervening, feels fear. In order to help, one takes action in spite of the fear.
