The Protestant Reformation was supposed to correct the ills of the Catholic church. Instead, in America resembles what it tried to correct and dismantle. Senior pastor = Pope, Church building = Cathedral, Tithing = Sale of Indulgences (both false teachings), Pastor = Priest and so on. "Submission to Authority" is the iron rod used to beat us and that is why the flock is completely fleeced. The spiritual work is handled by the professionals. That is why it is a spectator sport now.
The Christian establishment in America has created a caste system in Christianity - the church staff and ministry leaders in the upper caste and the rest of us in the lower castes. We stopped attending "church" and only pray and worship together and have communion in our family at home. ("where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" said Jesus).
